Will it hurt?2023-12-22T19:52:31+00:00

People are often surprised by how comfortable osteopathy is at About Backs & Bones. We use techniques which vary from being extremely gentle to a little firmer, depending on the cause of the pain. For example, if muscles are tight, and need deep massage then this is sometimes slightly uncomfortable but we work within your pain threshold and vary treatment accordingly. We also treat people in extreme pain and babies and children who will not tolerate some techniques, so gentle methods of treatment are used.

Will I have to undress?2023-12-22T19:53:05+00:00

This concerns many people and does not need to be a problem at all. At ‘About Backs & Bones’ we are trained to look at posture, muscle tightness, strain and movement restrictions and we gain more information if you are undressed to your underwear or wearing shorts. However, you need to be comfortable and if you prefer to wear a gown provided or bring thin, loose clothing, or shorts/leggings then we can still work effectively.

How long does a treatment take?2023-12-22T19:53:29+00:00

Your first appointment includes a thorough health questionnaire as well as tests and treatment and takes 1 hour. Follow-up treatments take 30 minutes although occasionally you may need to allow a little more time.

How accessible are you?2023-12-22T19:54:59+00:00

We are on the main A6 in Allestree, and are on several bus routes. We have parking immediately outside the clinic as well as a carpark opposite and in neighbouring streets- although Derwent Avenue has parking restrictions with a hill to climb. Disabled access is limited: our entrance is not large enough for wheelchairs and there is a small step outside.

By car

We are easy to find – off the A38, take the A6 North -. After about 200m look for the ‘Shell’ garage on your left. Go through the pedestrian crossing, then on the right is a row of shops next to Derwent Avenue.
From the A6 North, after you have left the countryside south of Duffield, and entered the suburbs of Allestree, the road bends quite sharply to the left and our clinic is immediately on the left within a row of shops –next to Lloyds chemist.
There is parking in front of the clinic or opposite.

By bus

Trent buses run past the clinic – nos 6.2, 6.3, 6.4, approximately 3 buses an hour

How much does it cost?2024-02-08T12:51:55+00:00

As of Janaury 2024:

Osteopathic or Physiotherapy initial appointment: £62

Osteopathic or Physiotherapy follow-up appointment: £62

Other Therapies range upwards from £27

For exact up-to-date prices, please call 01332 553332 or email via the contact page on this website.

Although we regret the cost may be a factor for some people, we charge the minimum in order to provide the service. If you consider the impact of your pain on your life it is a small price to pay and many of our patients say they wish they had sought treatment earlier, which usually results in speedier effects too. We accept both VISA & Mastercard debit/credit cards (not American Express) and gift vouchers are also available.
